Working towards our next goal!

November 20, 2020

Thank you to all of our generous donors who have given thus far. Now more than ever, students may be facing new challenges as it relates to finishing the school year and persisting through graduation. With that in mind, we have increased our goal to $15,000. Thank you for helping us provide an environment that sets our students up for a lifetime of success and well-being, and with that, access to reliable, healthy food.

Sincere Gratitude for our Achieved Goal!

January 07, 2020

Friends of Blue Table,

On behalf of the Blue Table team, thank you for your incredible support!  On December 23, our campaign concluded with an overwhelming 105% of our goal raised.

Throughout the campaign, our fundraising efforts reached over 100 members of the Buffalo and UB community, in addition to the hundreds who contributed food during the fall semester.  We recognize that there may be many causes worthy of your support and it means a great deal to us that our community has supported this important program.  The generously donated food and funds will have a direct impact on the experience of many UB students!

Thank you!

Food Drive Success!

December 06, 2019

Friends of Blue Table,

The food drive during the week of November 18, the first campus-wide drive coordinated for Blue Table, was an overwhelming success!  Throughout the week, over 2,500 items were collected across the three UB campuses.

The top category of food collected was canned fruits and vegetables, followed by canned beans and canned soup. Nearly 150 jars of peanut butter were collected, which remains one of Blue Table’s most requested items. The estimated value of food raised is over $3,000.

The success of the drive is in large part due to support from our drive partners: Student Life, Student Association, Professional Staff Senate and Faculty Senate.  Thank you to all who offered partnership and participation!

November Food Drive

November 13, 2019

Friends of Blue Table,

As our crowdfunding initiative approaches an end in November, we are boosting efforts to raise food through a drive that will take place on campus November 18-22.

Drop-off locations will be at 235 Student Union, 1Capen, 350 Student Union, The Elli in the Ellicott Complex, 120 Crofts Hall and 520 Capen Hall on the North Campus; 1 Diefendorf Hall and Harriman Hall on the South Campus; and on the first floor of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences’ building on the Downtown Campus.

Frequently requested items include rice, pasta, crackers, peanut butter, beans and canned tuna/chicken.  A full list of items collected is available in the new Community Toolkit, a resource for any person or group that wants to support Blue Table by hosting a food drive.

Donated food and funds sustain Blue Table and we are grateful for all of the community support this month that will push us beyond our $10,000 goal!

Fall Semester Has Begun!

August 26, 2019

Friends of Blue Table,

Where has the summer gone?  This week marks the start of the fall semester and all students have returned to campus.

Throughout the last few months, all new and transfer students participated in an orientation session.  Over 4,000 students and 2,000 family members visited campus.  During each session, Blue Table team members collected food items, a new addition to the orientation agenda.  Offering the opportunity to contribute to Blue Table over the summer has been a great way to introduce new students to what it means to be a member of the UB community.

We are looking forward to the start of the semester and the continued success of this campaign!

Student Life Staff Contribute Funds and Food

August 07, 2019

Friends of Blue Table,

This month, Sherri Darrow, who has served as the chair of Blue Table, retired and Director of Student Unions Maria Wallace has joined the team. We are grateful to Dr. Darrow for her leadership to conceptualize Blue Table and bring it to fruition!

Recently, Student Life staff gathered to celebrate at the annual summer picnic and raise support for Blue Table. Over 200 staff attended, with nearly $300 being donated through a 50/50 raffle and over 500 food items added to the Blue Table shelves through staff donations.

We have continued to receive generous crowdfunding donations and each contribution gets us closer to our $10,000 goal.
