ABOUT SOCIAL INNOVATION & ENTREPRENEURIAL LEADERSHIP IN INDIA: January 2020:
8 selected students from the University at Buffalo MBA program will travel to Bangalore to learn about the history and culture of India and complete a hands-on consulting project in Byce, a rural village. Before the trip, students will be assigned a project theme and will engage with local residents 3 months before departing the U.S. to understand current challenges and develop sustainable solutions.
Students are individually responsible for all out of pocket expenses: $6,500+ in costs
OUR MISSION:
Upon arriving in India, students will spend the first week living and working in this village to implement their solutions addressing the potential ban on plastics India: sustainable plates & flatware! This experience fits in to the School of Management's strategic initiatives of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Health Care Management, and Social Innovation as all students will be working on these skills as part of the experience.
Afterward, students will then have the opportunity to explore India, including site visits to:

THE REACH AND PRESENCE OF THE LIVE-IN-LABS PROGRAM: From Jammu and Sikkim in the North to Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the South, to Rajasthan and Gujarat in the West to Jharkhand and Bihar in the East, the Live-in-Labs® program has implemented projects in our various thematic areas throughout India.
Over 30 institutions and universities around the world (including UB) have 20,000+ hours in the field working towards sustainable development in rural communities.
Students will fly 8,295 miles to Banglore, India to live in villages and work with Amrita College.
Our UB MBA students traveling to India will be graduating in 2020.
The Jivamritam Purified Clean Drinking Water Initiative aims to install drinking water filtration systems in 5,000 villages and provide clean drinking water to over 10 million people throughout India.
