Student Experiences in Global Social Impact

UB SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT GLOBAL PROGRAMS offers a variety of faculty-led, short-term programs with destinations all over the globe. Opportunities include destinations in Africa, Asia, Central America, Europe and North America. Programs are offered during the fall, winter, spring and summer sessions. Learn more about the UB Global Programs HERE.

8 selected students from the University at Buffalo MBA program will travel to Bangalore to learn about the history and culture of India and complete a hands-on consulting project in Byce, a rural village. Before the trip, students will be assigned a project theme and will engage with local residents 3 months before departing the U.S. to understand current challenges and develop sustainable solutions.

Students are individually responsible for all out of pocket expenses: $6,500+ in costs

Upon arriving in India, students will spend the first week living and working in this village to implement their solutions addressing the potential ban on plastics India: sustainable plates & flatware! This experience fits in to the School of Management's strategic initiatives of Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Health Care Management, and Social Innovation as all students will be working on these skills as part of the experience.

Afterward, students will then have the opportunity to explore India, including site visits to:

  1. Zero Hunger

  2. Samarthanan Trust for the Disabled

  3. ATREE

  4. Mysore Palace

Students are responsible for the full funding of this important experience and they need your help. Your gift will help offset travel expenses for our students; including program fees, vaccines, international flights, ground transportation, bottled water and meals during their stay.

8 for 8:  $8,000 raised to provide each student with $1,000 - an effort to lighten their financial load while taking the time to positively impact the world through the representation of UB School of Management!

Estimated student total expenses: (14 Days) $6,820

  • $1,500: Round-trip flights from Buffalo to India

  • $1,200: Required Vaccines & OTC Medications

  • $1,000: Amrita University program fee

  • $1,000: Room accommodations
