American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)
The University at Buffalo ASCE Student Chapter is excited to begin working on our design projects to submit in national competition this year, and we hope to perform even better than last year. In 2019 our Steel Bridge Team placed 4th overall at the National Competition in Carbondale, Illinois; the Concrete Canoe Team placed 4th at our Regional Competition in Rochester, NY; and the Seismic Design Team competed at the national competition in Vancouver Canada.
This year new rules have brought about new challenges for each design team. The Steel Bridge team must create a new way to fabricate, test, and build a larger bridge with multiple off-set legs. The Concrete Canoe team is researching and testing new, less dense mix designs. Both the canoe and bridge teams are excited for their regional competition at Clarkson University in April. And the Seismic Design team must design and build a tower within an asymmetric footprint to withstand catastrophic earthquake shaking.
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is asking for your support in order to buy specialized materials and tools to help our design teams maintain such high levels of competition. As well as to bring more younger members to competitions and leadership conferences to insure the longevity of our club.
Will you give to ASCE this year to help us overcome the challenges ahead and keep UB ASCE on the national stage?
From every student on the UB ASCE Team, we kindly ask for your support. We would like to thank you in advance for your support. Your donation is greatly appreciated!
