In Memoriam: Dustin Nemec, PharmD ’20
Dustin Nemec, PharmD '20 was killed in an automobile accident.

Dustin, son of Edward and Karen Nemec of Elba, was a 2013 graduate of Elba Central School District, where he excelled at tennis and participated in swimming, concert and jazz band.

He graduated in the top 10 of his class and received numerous awards, including being a member of National Honor Society. He earned the Bausch and Lomb Science Award, was a 2013 Genesee Community College Scholar Award Semi-Finalist and served as the senior class Vice President.

He graduated cum laude from the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences with a doctorate of pharmacy in May 2020 and worked as a pharmacist for Tops Friendly Markets.

Members of the UB Pharmacy community and friends of Dustin reacted to the news by remembering Dustin.

"Dustin was a great friend and former classmate from the UB School of Pharmacy Class of 2020. Dustin was exceedingly kind, always funny, and overall such a great person to be around and count on. He was always known for cheering up anyone he interacted with whether it be during class, work, outside of school, or helping out as a teaching assistant. Dustin's happy and caring personality extended consistently throughout all of pharmacy. He commuted over an hour every day, but never missed class or let down any of his peers. Dustin is genuinely missed. The scholarship passed on in his name is to recognize someone that carries Dustin's meaningful characteristics and interests, and help future pharmacists get to know the amazing friend, classmate, and coworker the Class of 2020 had".
