Celebrating Women's History Month

Celebrating Women's History Month

Throughout the month of March, we celebrate the many women who have made an impact on the university. Join in our celebration by joining a University event this month, or reading the stories of just a few of our inspiring alumnae.

Events and Programs:

UB’s Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) program provides support and extracurricular opportunities for female students in STEM fields. Check out their upcoming events.

The Gender Institute promotes research and teaching related to women, gender, and sexuality. Click here to see events scheduled.

Did you know that UB’s Department of Global Gender and Sexuality Studies was one of the first women’s studies programs in the United States. Now in its 50th year, they have a variety of events this month; Click here to see the schedule.

Some Awesome Alumnae:

Raven Baxter - UB Graduate School of Education class of 2021, PhD recently named Forbes 40 under 40 in 2021, and Forbes 30 under 30 in 2022.

Trini Ross - UB School of Law alumnus and adjunct law professor at UB, recently named U.S. attorney for the Western District of New York.

Gina Hammond – funded a scholarship designed to help women pursue an education in STEM.

As UB celebrates its deep commitment to diversity, we also invite you to take this opportunity to contribute to those efforts by making a gift, to support future generations of women scholars and our work toward building a more diverse, inclusive community here in Buffalo.

Here’s a few other ideas to celebrate the inspiring women in your life: write a thank you note, gift a cup of coffee, support women-owned businesses, like Top Seedz, owned by UB CEL graduate Rebecca Brady, which won the top prize in the statewide 43North competition, or take a break from your UB blue and wear purple this month, the color Internationally symbolizing women.
