Student Award Created in Memory of Dr. Davis Garlapo
For nearly five decades, Davis Garlapo, ’68 Pixed Pros. Cert. ’74, impacted countless students, won numerous accolades – including educator of the year and on four different occasions and made a lasting impact on the profession.
Shortly after his passing in Fall 2021, former students and colleagues began to brainstorm about how best to recognize Dr. Garlapo – and ensure that his legacy live in in perpetuity.
Two of Dr. Garlapo’s students - Jane Brewer, DDS 78, PMCRT ’82, MS ‘82 and Thomas Tobias, DDS ’83, PMCRT ’84 have initiated efforts to raise money in support of creating the Dr. Davis Garlapo Award, which will benefit UB Dental students who perform at a high level in prosthodontics.
The goal is to raise $25,000 to create a student award and longer term the hope is to raise $100,000 to establish an endowed scholarship in Dr. Garlapo’s name.
