WHO WE ARE
We are the University at Buffalo Women’s Basketball Team. In the last decade, our program has produced 28 All-MAC honorees, including two Freshman of the Year recipients and multiple First Team selections, two players who finished a season in the top five in scoring in the country, the first player to get drafted in the WNBA, and 31 Academic All-MAC winners. We have won three MAC Championships and have made four trips to the NCAA Tournament in the last six seasons, most recently last season where we competed on network television for the first time in program history. We have qualified for the MAC tournament in 10 straight seasons and have advanced to semifinal round and beyond in seven of the last eight years.
It is an exciting time for our program under first-year head coach Becky Burke who comes to Buffalo after winning Big South Coach of the Year honors at USC Upstate. She brings with her a championship pedigree, after leading Louisville to a Final Four appearance as a freshman in 2009. Coach Burke’s program is built on the foundation of the Three E’s: Energy, Effort and Enthusiasm. The young women in this program will bring the same level of energy, effort and enthusiasm to every environment, whether it’s on the court, in the classroom, in the weight room or in the community.
WHY WE ARE RAISING FUNDS
We are raising funds to purchase our Women’s Basketball student-athletes with portable recovery equipment. Hyperbolt Go 2 massage guns, Hypersphere Mini massage balls, the Compex Performance 3.0 and Firefly Recovery devices will help our players recover more quickly between practices and competitions. These cutting-edge health technologies with their portability will improve our team’s ability to maintain peak performance on the road at away games as well as at home.
