Honor the Legacy of Dr. David H. Brown, DDS ’83

Dr. David H. Brown, DDS ’83, touched countless lives as a clinician, educator, mentor and friend. After nearly four decades courageously living with oral/head and neck cancer, Dr. Brown passed away on March 19, 2025. His life was marked by resilience, generosity, and an unwavering dedication to others.

A proud member of the UB School of Dental Medicine Class of 1983, Dr. Brown returned to the school as a full-time faculty member in 2002. Over the next two decades, he became a beloved professor and mentor, known for his empathy, humor, and open door. He received numerous teaching awards, including the UB Dental Alumni Association Honor Award, the Educator of the Year Award, four Alan J. Gross Excellence in Teaching Awards and served as Director of Admissions, shaping the futures of generations of dental students.

To honor his extraordinary legacy, the UB School of Dental Medicine has established the Dr. David H. Brown Award. This endowed award will recognize a student who demonstrates outstanding scholarship and/or community service, values Dr. Brown embodied throughout his career and life.
