Buffalo Primary Care Initiative

Buffalo Primary Care Initiative

At UB's Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, we know that improving the health of our neighbors means addressing the root causes of poor health in our most underserved communities. For instance, a person living on Buffalo’s East Side is 300% more likely to suffer from a chronic illness—like heart disease, COPD, diabetes, substance abuse and stroke—than an individual living in a more suburban, affluent area.

The Buffalo Primary Care Initiative is not just a scholarship: its tuition, a purposeful job after training and reliable primary care for the underserved community of Buffalo.

Jacobs School Unveils Buffalo Primary Care Initiative

Your Impact

At the Jacobs School, we are betting big that by making primary care a more accessible specialty for our students we will significantly increase the number of physicians in our community and pave the way to better health for all of our neighbors. In honor of the 180th anniversary of the founding of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences our goal is to have 180 donors give to the Buffalo Primary Care Initiative.

You can make your gift go even further with the New York State SUNY Endowment Match. For any gifts of $10,000 or more New York State will match 50%, these gifts can be made in instalments over the course of five years. In order to qualify for this match commitments must be made by March 31, 2026.

For more information on the Endowment Match, how to make a multi-year pledge, or how to make a gift via Donor Advised Fund please reach out to:
